As the world continues to react to Saturday's news of George Zimmerman's acquittal in the fatal 2012 shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, the question must be asked: In a case that meant so much to so many, how does one deal with the verdict? How should the black community cope with the outcome?
While Rev. Al Sharpton has announced a national march to take place on August 24 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, and the NAACP has requested that the Department of Justice prosecute the former neighborhood watchman, others took to their social media accounts to express feelings about the verdict and describe how they're coping. Some posted songs that brought them comfort; others posted quotes. Others simply went to church.
