Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock is set to be named Canada?s Olympic hockey coach ahead of the Sochi 2014 Games, according to a Sportsnet report.

Babcock was behind Team Canada?s bench when the team captured gold on home ice at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

The same report goes on to list St. Louis Blues? coach ken Hitchcock, Dallas Stars bench boss Lindy Ruff and Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien as Babcock?s assistants.

The NHL, its players? association and the International Ice Hockey Federation finally came to an agreement on Friday, paving the way for NHLers to appear at the Olympics for the fifth straight time.

Canada opens Group B of the Olympic tournament on Feb. 13 against Norway, followed by games against Austria on Feb. 14 and Finland on Feb. 16.

The Czechs and Swedes are the favourites in Group C, with Switzerland knocking on the door. Latvia?s expected to be a non-factor.

Group A represents 2014?s Group of Death. The U.S., Russians and Slovaks all have a good chance to progress, with Slovenia bringing up the rear.
