Sports great Tony La Russa is stepping up to the plate this holiday season to help efforts to fill the plates of both people and pets in need.
Tony La Russa?s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) has teamed with Safeway and the Salvation Army for a holiday food drive benefiting families in financial distress. To help the families? four-legged members, donations of unopened, unexpired wet or dry dog and cat food are being collected, and will be distributed through the Salvation Army?s facility in Concord, California.
Donations will be accepted at Tony La Russa?s Animal Rescue Foundation at 2890 Mitchell Drive (at Oak Grove) in Walknut Creek, California from Monday ? Friday 9 a.m. ? 5 p.m. and from Saturday ? Sunday Noon ? 5 p.m. Pet food contributions are also being accepted at Safeway locations in Alamo, Blackhawk, Clayton,San Ramon (San Ramon Valley Boulevard) and Walnut Creek (South Broadway and Countrywood).
This year?s drive takes place from November 23rd through December 30th.
